World Orphans Day Observed 14 Nov-2011

World Orphans Day was celebrated by forming a Human Chain in front of Dhaka Press Club from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM on 14 November 2011 (Second Monday of Nov.) with Orphans, Citizens Volunteers of OWF (Orphans Welfare Foundation). Deputy Speaker Connell Shawkot Ali, MP (Member of the National Parliament), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as Chief Guest. Rubina Akter, Director, OWF Coordinated the Program. There are 150 million Orphan Child aged bellow 18 in this world. 
Half a million Orphan living and studying at different Orphanages in Bangladesh. The Orphans are the most underprivileged in our society. Orphans don’t get proper Education & Writing Materials, Healthcare, Pure Drinking  and do not know about Child Rights
 Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) is supporting the orphanages with Education & Writing Materials, Medicare, Pure Drinking Water etc.

Health Camp for Orphans at Mirpur Sha-Alibug Orphanage

A Health Camp was jointly organized by Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) and Latifa Poly Clinic on 4th November 2011 (Friday) from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Orphans of Sha-Alibug Hafizia Madrasa & Orphanage (Mirpur) were given Medicare. Dr. Zinat Rehana, MBBS Volunteered for the program. Most of the orphans & poor students were suffering from various diseases such as scabies, malnutrition, fever, eye-problem, etc. 25% were infected by scabies. Health Cards were introduced in which all the Medical Records will be kept till they reach 18 years. Rafikur Rahman Rana, M.D. of Latifa Poly Clinic and Rubina Akter, Director of Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) were present. No one cares about the Medicare of the orphans but horrified information comes out after the Health Camp that no single orphan/ poor student is in sound health.
