World Orphans Day Observed 14 Nov-2011

World Orphans Day was celebrated by forming a Human Chain in front of Dhaka Press Club from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM on 14 November 2011 (Second Monday of Nov.) with Orphans, Citizens Volunteers of OWF (Orphans Welfare Foundation). Deputy Speaker Connell Shawkot Ali, MP (Member of the National Parliament), Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as Chief Guest. Rubina Akter, Director, OWF Coordinated the Program. There are 150 million Orphan Child aged bellow 18 in this world. 

Half a million Orphan living and studying at different Orphanages in Bangladesh. The Orphans are the most underprivileged in our society. Orphans don’t get proper Education & Writing Materials, Healthcare, Pure Drinking  and do not know about Child Rights. 

 Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) is supporting the orphanages with Education & Writing Materials, Medicare, Pure Drinking Water etc.

Health Camp for Orphans at Mirpur Sha-Alibug Orphanage

A Health Camp was jointly organized by Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) and Latifa Poly Clinic on 4^th November 2011 (Friday) from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Orphans of Sha-Alibug Hafizia Madrasa & Orphanage (Mirpur) were given Medicare. Dr. Zinat Rehana, MBBS Volunteered for the program. Most of the orphans & poor students were suffering from various diseases such as scabies, malnutrition, fever, eye-problem, etc. 25% were infected by scabies. Health Cards were introduced in which all the Medical Records will be kept till they reach 18 years. Rafikur Rahman Rana, M.D. of Latifa Poly Clinic and Rubina Akter, Director of Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) were present. No one cares about the Medicare of the orphans but horrified information comes out after the Health Camp that no single orphan/ poor student is in sound health.

Orphans of Mirpur Shishu Paribar received Education Materials

Mirpur Government Shishu Paribar (Boy's Orphanage)

Mirpur Shishu Paribar is located at Mirpur-10, Dhaka, Bangladesh. 96 Orphans (All boys) live in this orphanage. The Orphans were briefed earlier that Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) will donate Education Materials to them by the Superintendent. On 22^nd July 2011 at 10:00 AM the Members & Volunteers of OWF arrived at the premise of the Orphanage. It seemed the orphans were anxiously waiting for hours. Joy spread among the faces of the orphans. The President Lion Md. Jashim Uddin, Director Rubina Akter, Assistant Secretary Laila Arjuan, Secretary K.T. Elahi, Volunteer Kazi Maisha, Moonmoon Aktar, Md. Rana, Dalia Rahman & Jiko were present on behalf of OWF. Mr. Julfikar Haider, Additional Director (Institution) was present on behalf of Directorate of Social Welfare, GoB. There was a short briefing on the activities of OWF. The orphans were also asked individually to list their demands. They were assured that the demands will be fulfilled on the availability of Fund from the donors. It was a wonderful day for the Orphans.

Mr. Julfikar Haider, Additional Director (Institution) was present on behalf of Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh and distributed Educational Materials of Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF) on 22^nd July 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mirpur Shishu Paribar located at Mirpur-10, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The President Lion Md. Jashim Uddin, Director Rubina Akter, Assistant Secretary Laila Arjuan, Secretary K.T. Elahi, Volunteer Kazi Maisha, Moonmoon Aktar, Md. Rana, Dalia Rahman & Jiko were present on behalf of OWF.

Education Materials for Charfeson Orphanage, Bhola

                   Charfeson Orphanage, Bhola

Education Materials were distributed at Charfeson Orphanage, Bhola---200 km South from Dhaka (Capital) on 31 May 2011. The President of the Foundation Lion Md. Jashim Uddin was present at the distribution ceremony. Among the Local guests Ex-Chairman of Jinnagar Union Parishad Kazi Manjur Hossain, Professor Hanif of Charfeson Womens' College, Al Haj Kazi morshed (Social worker & businessman) and others were present. All the students of Charfeson Orphanage received the Education materials. It was a rainy day so there were limited photo session. The distribution program started at 1:30 PM. Mr. Serajul Islam, Director of Charfeson Orphanage was present. Orphans Welfare Foundation's (OWF) Goal is to support the orphans all over Bangladesh in Education, Health, Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) and Observe World Orphans Day. This year the day is 14 November 2011 (2nd Monday of Nov. each year)

Education Materials for Sir Salimullah Orphanage

Sir Salimullah Orphanage of Azimpur, Dhaka,

8^th April 2011-The Orphans of Sir Salimullah Orphanage of Azimpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh didn’t know anything about the education material distribution. They woke up early in the morning and did the usual routine work.

At 10:25 AM the orphans were informed they will be donated something! The orphans came in a line---curious of what they will receive as gifts.

At 10:35 AM they were all briefed about the Orphans Welfare Foundation’s work and what they will receive. Happiness spread all over their faces.

At 10:40 AM the Educational Material including Geometry Box, 4 pieces of Writing books, Pen and Pencil were given to each Orphan. Receiving the Education Material they were the happiest orphans for that day.

The Preisident, Lion Md. Jashim Uddin and Director, Rubina Akter were present. Rana and Shikha Volunteered on behalf of Orphans Welfare Foundation (OWF). Several Guests including Shah Md. Jobair, Country Director (FBMF), Mr. Sunny and others were present.

The Orphans had old  broken Geometry Box and were wondering how they would attend the Exams------at this moment Orphans Welfare Foundation came to solve the problem. It was a happy day for The Orphans.
